Am currently porting over the code to Fremantle - am using the only version in the garage. Will contact the author and see if I cant get a more recent version.

have a postit on the desktop of the n900 which is always open and takes the form of a post-it?

For older versions of maemo, there is Yellow Notes
You might want to contact the author and pick up on that.

For short bits of text you could try fat-label

fat-label 0.3 won't work for text longer than, say, 5 words. A future version will lift this restriction.
