I have perfect 3G in my area but have been satisfied with 2.5G speeds (and because it saves battery I've read). So I wanted to do a few speeds tests to actually see what the speeds where. I'm curious to see how this compares to other people. I'm located in Northeast Indiana using T-Mobile.

URL I used for speed test (click on 1MB link):
http://www.dslreports.com/mspeed?jisok=1&more=1

Results:

2.5G (228 kbit/sec):

3G (938 kbit/sec):

I get anywhere from 250 kbps to 800 kbps on my N900. The most I got on my HTC G1 is 1200 kbps (same network, same day).

150 kbps on 2.5G, 1450 kbps on 3.5G (should get better readings though...)

1667kbit/sec on 3.5G here. Full coverage using Three Sweden.

EDIT: They say you should get up to 7.2mbps though, but I guess it's because I don't live in a really big town..
EDIT#2: Okay, using the Swedish site Bredbandskollen gave me 3.27mbps down and 1.04mbps up, so I guess it's totally OK.

Oh and I'm running the tests in Firefox Mobile so I don't know if MicroB would be any faster.

Best I have ever gotten with N900 or my dongle and PC, on O2 or T-Mobile (UK), has been around 1500Kbit.

Its nothing to do with big cities either, you don't get much bigger than here. I think mostly its capped, or too many people are using the service so its never optimal.

This DAMN speed test installs something on N900 and eats nearly 10 mb of free rootsh. VERY NICE.

It does? How were you able to tell? It's a special mobile speed test from dslreports.com (pretty reputable site that's been around for years and years) so I don't see why it would do this.
