The screen of my N900 is unreadable, so that I'd like to read SMS from the CLI (I can have access to my N900 by USB net). I could find commands that read .rtcom-eventlogger/el-v1.db but the latest SMS messages (received today) are not recorded there. So, what is the solution?

Possible workaround: Start a VNC server (x11vnc) on the N900, and port-forward it via SSH, then use a VNC Client to view and interact with the screen

I wanted to avoid VNC, but finally I could manage to make it work nicely with password, based on information from http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=44105. I do not use SSH port forwarding, so that the VNC connection is not encrypted, but as the connection is via USB, I don't think this is much a problem.

If your screen is broken and your touch is working you can just use the tv-ouu.
