It's not about Nokia handing over your data. You gave your data to Skype when you signed up and they see what client(s) you have been using.
At least no messages inviting to upgrade came in

as far as im goes...there is this new one called "off the record messaging"...

and there is work on a open suacing of skypesque proportions for those who want somewhat familiar ease of use transition for themselves or friends and family who need something understandable...

So we are now in the post 1 July 2017 legacy Skype EOL era; any ideas or hacks to get access to Skype maybe slight tweaks or certificates to access via the Apple or Android API? I seem to log in on my N900 and get the green ball, but I do not seem to successfully make or receive a voice or video call, nor IM message. Any ideas for hacks?
I have never used this service much on the N900, especially the power hog video calling, but it was always a neat feature if I needed it, especially if I was international and didn't have local 3G data; I could Skype out and call via wifi .

I haven't checked my n8x0's yet ,,, to see if there is any repercussion to the latest "culling" ...
this latest stated... "dropping of support"
I am hoping it hasn't...
Skype for the n8x0 being functional (at least up to now) is a prime example of the snarly mess of proprietary goods and legally binding contracts ...which have worked in our favour...so far....

OK, so login is possible, as is posting a personal status message from the N900 readable on my laptop.
I cant get skype to send or receive messages.
Some contacts show green logged-in balls, but my accounts don't show so these might have been logged in status leftover from the 1st and not updated?
