loosely related to the "want real linux" topic in last few posts:
[2014-09-09 Tue 16:49:00] <DocScrutinizer05> [2014-09-09 Tue 11:41:51] <Pali_> freemangordon: kernel-power is on garage: https://garage.maemo.org/projects/kernel-power/
[2014-09-09 Tue 16:50:08] <wpwrak> ah, a "things we really ought to mainline" repo ?
[2014-09-09 Tue 16:50:09] <DocScrutinizer05> this should be the most recent most comprehensive kernel source we have, for maemo kernel
[2014-09-09 Tue 16:50:21] <wpwrak> (i know, i know, i'm lazy, too
[2014-09-09 Tue 16:50:32] <DocScrutinizer05> this one will definitely not make it upstream
[2014-09-09 Tue 16:50:41] <wpwrak> full of blobs ?
[2014-09-09 Tue 16:50:57] <DocScrutinizer05> full of maemo specific patches
[2014-09-09 Tue 16:51:14] <Pali> in that repo are patches for 2.6.28 kernel
[2014-09-09 Tue 16:51:40] <wpwrak> Pali: ewww ... yes, i can see how that would have a hard time making it upstream
[2014-09-09 Tue 16:51:44] <DocScrutinizer05> nobody wants to see hostmode patches upstream ;-)
[2014-09-09 Tue 16:52:01] <Pali> wpwrak: we already upstreaming patches
[2014-09-09 Tue 16:52:11] <Pali> here is state: http://elinux.org/N900
[2014-09-09 Tue 16:52:36] <Pali> as you can see lot of work was done
[2014-09-09 Tue 16:52:54] <DocScrutinizer05> yes, awesome! A ton of thanks to you guys for that

What does UPPER and LOWER mean in this context?
You're not talking about giving up the 2 PCB approach, right?

Edit:
I take it you're referring to the various layers of one PCB?

UPPER and LOWER are the names of two PCBs, and previously they had schematics in separate files. That's it - a purely cosmetical change that will make it easier to work on schematics and layouts.

And "PCB sheet" refers to the document, not the piece of hardware?

To say I'm upset and I'm concerned is exactly just that.

I'm upset to hear Joerg is leaving/ has left ...

http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php...40#post1440240

I do understand (at least in small part) the why....the same with Nieldk's resignation ....again...

.....still...good people leaving....especially good people who make a difference leaving.. simply makes me upset.

And I am concerned how this will (if at all) impact the neo devel. , continued communications, updates, and finally... release.

Overall I am ...unsettled...with such turbulences.
Calming clarity and reassurances would ...most certainly...be welcome and good to hear.

My (non)involvement into maemo orga and maemo at large is not in any way relevant for Neo900 or even FPTF
FPTF will not change, i'm only mentoring in there anyway. And Neo900 never was a device exclusively for maemo, we always tageted multiple OS and we don't ship any particular OS with the hardware, we leave it up to users to install whatever they like. Neo900 also never received any support from maemo council or HiFo, so no impact at all to the project.

Don't worry about Neo900! If you really care, rather worry about maemo community and what it's turning into when the recent movements are not changing perspective.

cheers
jOERG

Hey hey hey, this post sounds like Joerg would be quitting Neo900 team (if you don't follow the link and read the wall of text there, that is). For anyone who would be misguided - that's not true, it's about Maemo Council.

Neo900 was never related to Maemo Council, HiFo, Maemo e.V. or any other entity in this community and Joerg even made that clear in his first post here. Neo900 project is part of Maemo community just like any other Maemo-related project spawned by any other member here. Therefore, any issues regarding Council are basically not related to Neo900 at all (and are kinda offtopic in this thread).

Good to hear Joerg.

And yes I am concerned what is happening with community.

My level of expertise in realms of running infrastructure are truly limited ..else I'd be in there with both feet. I'm pretty good at what I know...try to learn and be informed on what I don't...and know when my ability in specific talents ...even general talents are past my ability to juggle...and are dwarfed by those far more knowledgable. And I'm way cool with that...and support those who are the gifted minds who understand protocols, processes and nuances I do not.

Also ...one of the prime reasons why I do love the neo is the fact that regardless of whether community/ business driven operating system A, B, C, D, or ~ starts down a path I don't ...hmm...favour?...or fails, or collapses....the neo is Protean in nature...(after Proteus the water god...malleable...flexible...fluid) ..and isn't at the mercy of any platform or politics...and THAT is most definitely a good thing...especially in any period of any uncertainty.
