Well, avoiding massive costs for data roaming when abroad is kinda important, you know. Unless you're rolling in cash.

Thanks, OP. Even though the map loader doesn't work on Windows 7 yet..

Hmm.. Just remembered this is already posted, oh well.

There appear to be a few parallel threads on this, maybe they can be merged.

I ran this yesterday and while it did work it took a few tries. I have a Mac and the process took about 12 hours with the N900 plugged in to the USB port. I did load several of the maps as I travel but that still seemed to be a very long time. Is this typical or is something wrong with my set up?

Installed MapLoader yesterday it was quick and flawless my maps are now available without any connection and routing is possible as well. Although you have to set your points manually on the map and you still can't search for them even though you have downloaded the map. Does anyone know why?

I've tried connection with PC Suite and Mass Storage.
Map loader just says... Looking for phone...
Doesn't work for me.

How idiotic is this of NOKIA?

The N900 is not supported by the Nokia Multimedia Transfer, yet the Map Loader requires the Nokia Multimedia Transfer in order to work.

Oh well... Good thing I have factory GPS navigation in all of my cars. I'm not about to go dig up a windows machine just to use this damned map loader.

It does work, in fact it works perfectly! I just updated my maps last night on the n900 using the map loader - there is a quick file copy you have to do on the device before the map loader recognized it but after that it was smooth sailing!

I also have windows 7 x64 and had no issues at all other than copying a file in my devices home directory - search the other map loader articles and you will find the fix easy enough!

Worked for me in PC Suite mode...

I am guessing that me copying the 3.0 maps data in causes this not to work for me.
