Or perhaps the problem is popping up more often, as our N9s get older.

Eh? Nokia N9 came out in September 2011. Doing some complex calculations, that's, err, ... plus 3 ... 1 carried over ... only 4 years. The vast majority of my electronics are at least twice as old.

So... do we get to blame Elop for this? That's all that really matters to me.

perhaps the poor things are attaining consciousness and "pffftttt!"
instantaneous termination...
or ascension..
or whatever you wish to call it...
leaving the husk of their mortal forms behind...
highly possible...
y'know...
Also considering it is happening to many of them...
it is also possible that they have some intimate knowledge that they are communicating with one another [where is Dave999 he should be here for this] and not sharing it with anyone else ...
let alone their owners
and are then proceeding in off-ing themselves...
appears to be all the makings of a device-driven-suicide-doomsday-cult-pact ...
Consequently...
I am never ever never letting an n9 within chit-chatting distance of any of my devices...
gawd knows what trouble my happily ignorant devices will suffer from such interactions..
it is possible I could be wrong...

And @gerbick...
Why...
yes...
yes we can...
we can most certainly blame Elop for this...
I see no prob with the pariah of pariah's getting 1 more straw added to his burdened back...

So...I luckily never had this issue, so I am trying to understand...

You are saying that telephony functions are broken due to software issues, and you are upset because you don't have the files to flash your phone because it is a 480 variant?
