Android 4.4 has a name! It's not Key Lime Pie after all. It's...

Check out the Nestle website cross-marketing with Android:

Or, if you're in an area where Hershey's is licensed to serve up KitKat bars (like in my area):

YUM!

Does that make the next version; the "Lime Pie" Android 5.0 ?!?!?

Btw, a friend wants to get a (non-iPad) tablet.
Its going to be used around the house, a present for his mum. 7inches is out of the question.

What are the best (Wifi) ones out there?
I'm thinking between the lines of the Transformer, Note 8/10, Nexus 10. Xperia tablet is nice, but doesn't seem to have any stand out features.
Any thoughts?

I sincerely doubt they'll go with "lime pie" after only JUST getting over the "key lime pie" naming fiasco--it would seem to be a tacky, lazy maneuver. More than likely.. my guess is something like "lemondrop." My guess, though.

As for the 10-inch tablet.. that depends on what she wants. Generally, for most people as an all-around good tablet, I would recommend either any of the Samsung Galaxy Tab/Note or the ASUS Transformer. Transformer is far better for ports and if they sometimes want to still feel like they still have a laptop computer. Galaxy Tab/Note is just a good, sleek all-around tablet. I'd go Tab instead of Note if they have no reason to use the stylus.

Thanks, good advice. I doubt they'll have much use for the stylus.

Anyways it seems in terms of,
Specifications: Note ~ ASUS > Tab
First-party support: ASUS ~ Note > Tab
Weight and Portability: Tab ~ Note > ASUS
"Feel" : ASUS > Note ~ Tab
Price: Tab > Note ~ ASUS
Accessory: Keyboard > Stylus > C-pen

Seems like the best option is the successor to the TF300. ASUS' next budget-oriented Transformer. However, nothing's been announced unfortunately. So I will tell him to look for the Infinity at a discounted price.

And the next flagship Transformer, the TF701t, doesn't have anything special.
The special additions seem to be USB 3.0 support, 4K output, Tegra4 SoC, 1600p screen.

I think USB 2.0 support, a 1200p screen and output are enough. All it needs is a new SoC and nothing that fancy, a QCM Snapdragon 400 SoC will do. That for $300 is a good buy, a successor to the TF300.
To sweeten the deal, it can be fully plastic but made thinner and those outlandish bezels shaved off.
