The N900 Media Player actually lacks of lyrics support: it should be definitely implemented.

Here's the link to the Brainstorm:

I think the lyric feature should include syncronized lyrics (or minilyrics) support, this lyrics could be stored in idtag like static lyrics or in addtionale .lrc files (using the same name than then music file)

Why not extend it with "karaoke" support? It should not be difficult, since it seems that subtitles support for media player is coming. "Karaoke" support could use the same mechanism.

The lyrics support for the standard media player is the TuneWiki widget that can be downloaded from OVI store.
Other than that, MediaBox is a player with support for LRC and enhanced LRC lyrics formats.

The TuneWiki widget is not lyric support at all, it simply downloads lyrics from its own database: it requires internet connection to work and you can't choose your favourite lyrics. Do you call that lyric support?

MediaBox is just a workaround for this problem, and it doesn't support internal ID3 lyrics, so that's not a solution.
