RMS was participating in the course creation. You will find the course recording which were made specifically for this course there (including intro).

However, he can not endorse the non-free platform (besides librejs-incompatibility, Eliademy is integrated with Facebook, Twitter, other social media. And you can imagine what Richard would say about this promotion of e.g. Facebook)

This is the understandable and this is why I have launched dedicated course web site: http://vrepin.org/FreeDigitalSociety

In this approach, Eliademy course is just an instance of Richard's course. They have made alot of support and contribution to make it happen. that's why I think it is fare to make them a credit in the course web pages and in the course videos (some of them would not be shooted without Eliademy. At all).

I hope, other platforms will take the course materials and will reuse them in their courses. More channels to spread these materials is better in my opinion. Check "Bringing this course to the new platforms" section there: http://vrepin.org/FreeDigitalSociety/support/index.html

The Eliademy iteration will be run by me (but all the video lectures are RMS lectures). But I still hope it will be possible to extend the collaboration with FSF - I want to be able to have Q&A session for the course participants with RMS himself or other top free software activitsts after the course is over.

The benefits of taking course with MOOC platform are listed here: http://vrepin.org/FreeDigitalSociety/enroll!/index.html

But if you want to be as orthodox as the lecturer, you can just use the web site of the course which I have created. It's totally compatible with librejs, does not promote survellaince engines of any kind and made only with free tools :-)

Is it just me or do you also find the concept of someone telling you how to write "free" software odd?

I think it's a good idea to understand what does "free" software means and why it matters (or does not matter) for you and your community.

Check the course Syllabus: http://vrepin.org/FreeDigitalSociety/index.html E.g., I remember times when I was confused in selecting the proper license for my software projects, for my photos etc. And this is good to know which licenses and in which cases and for which purposes are used.

We started today. I see the people who started to go through quizzes already.

I hope to see interesting discussions in the course forums.
