hi

I found this page

An open source system for touch devices

and here the wiki link for installation

It looks great and promising, don't want to test it on my N900 since I'm no expert

So waiting for someone to check it out

It's not an "open source system", it's more like KDE "Touch"... it may in fact replace hildon-desktop or meego-ui (however it's called), but not the OS... it depends on a linux box with QT and KDE framework...
Maybe it will be possible to test it with Mer+Nemo...

Greetings!

EDIT: Here you can get it to try on N900... But I am not willing to do this kind of things in my one and only communication device N900... so...

Latest installation instructions on last pages. Not too easy, though.

Indeed... not. Its something very different. You pointed at Kubuntu Mobile =/= KDE Mobile =/= Plasma Active =/= Nemo+Mer.... I think this is not the place to discuss this, but I guess this one is closer to be a "how to":
http://wiki.merproject.org/wiki/Nemo#Nemo_Mobile
http://wiki.meego.com/ARM/N900/GettingStarted
CAUTION: Highly Experimental, Even more than ANYTHING on this Forum, including Kernel-brfs, CSSU-Testing+Extras Dev. or Nitdroid.
If you are ready to brick your device, go on... maybe it won't break... so...
