now that i have been using n9more, i was also thinking of something fun to do with one of my old n900.

i think i am going to wire it to a mains plug sticking out back cover and use it like a sheeva plug. Motion detection, camera and sound recording. Coupled with an Ir repeater, could be fun as a web controlled tv stereo etc remote.

could also maybe install in an electrical box on wall and use as a sip video door phone.

also might use one at work for Bluetooth proximity advertising or some other Bluetooth proximity hack(i already have a relay controlled door strike on so maybe just add a might lead)

also thought to maybe wire one into car permanently for tunes and GPS etc.

wish i had more time for projects, really with such a tiny linux box with gsm, WiFi, Bluetooth, infrared, fmtxrx usb, av out, camera, mic, GPS, the fun little appliance possibilities are endless

If you had any sense you'll only use one and keep the other as a spare.

I searched for the walkie talkie thingie, but since it is only limited to bluetooth / wifi range... I'd rather shout

but what do you mean with stereo camera?

lots of ideas, but not for a nearly new N900

In fact a very good advise... I do not want to use the 2nd one in a way which turns it into a brick... just in the very ordinary way but making use of both of them......

for what it's worth...
i have two N900s too & use one as my primary and the 2nd as a test bed; just "bricked" it (SW wise) by installing u-boot on it to start Nemo from a mSDHC, but the thing stops after the penguin & some lines

guess going to reflash it to get ride of u-boot &...
is ICS already baked into NITDroid?

So far, the only possible application is the Babyphone, if you can hack this to call on the Bluetooth. I have defined my home number for SIP service, and can use both handsets to respond on phone calls made to my home number - on the WiFi at home, making the spare a WiFi phone, with chitter and creeking.

I have a 2nd N900 for testing as well, but uboot & Nemo works for me thankfully. In the Maemo side I just have stock nokia kernel and the uboot package from extras-devel, not using power kernel. I also have backupmenu installed.

As far as ICS... yep http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=66459
