Bug was closed (WONTFIX). I was contacted privately by nokia though(not all hope is lost).

We need to try & replicate in the community what you've been able to do (maybe), for many of the wontfix issues!
Please let us know if they agree, tis encouraging news.

Nice UI there... would be awesome but:
Bug 584 is officially dead.
I got a mail today and they can't/are unwilling to add this API. I answered with a kilometric rant, but my hope is gone.
It makes me feel so sad.
