after copieng some maps to home/user/MyDocs/cities, Maps won't boot anymore.
the maps are from 2010 i guess (any newer around..?)

when started from the menu, the Maps loading screen shows up,but exits while loading
when started from xterminal i get this:

$ nokia-maps
dbus_message_dispatch: got wrong message: (4)org.freedesktop.DBus.NameAcquired(s)
dbus_message_dispatch: got wrong message: (4)org.freedesktop.DBus.NameAcquired(s)
cachedir: /home/user/MyDocs/cities/diskcache
data : /usr/share/nokia-maps/
user : /home/user/.nokia-maps/
cachedat:
voice_dir: /home/user/MyDocs/cities/voices
>> SetWindow 0xe3e694, 0,0, (800,480)
Depth: 0, TrueColor: unknown
got gdkvisual: 0x36408
depth: 16
Resize 800*480*16
Plugin type: windowless
<< SetWindow 0xe3e694
Plugin::Setup()
device language: ENG
set def coord 52,373932 4,890353

and there it just hangs also

worth mentioning is,that i moved Maps around the save some space on rootfs, but this was never a problem.

thanks!!

I recently downloaded the offline version of the maps from the other thread where you posted, copied them to cities/diskcache,, and I am having the same problem. Maps just crashes after trying to load for a while.

The difference is I still have the default location for everything.

Edit: I just renamed the entire cities folder. The Maps application recreated it, and now it works again but obviously without the offline maps.

Edit2: I deleted the offline maps and copied a fresh copy. I did not however copy CachedatHeader.cdt. Now the Maps app loads up fully, displays a section of map I cannot recognize and crashes within 5 seconds.

Progress?

i tried just about everyrhing...copying it around all over the place
after installing some extra's (voice, chinese maps, blahblah) it loads but REALLY slow...and as soon you move the map around the screen,it hangs...

also, I rememberd you still need a connection to search adress...not functional for me

after trying for a couple of hours,i gave up.
I installed Marble now, works great!!!
took me a hour or so to figure things out,but I love it.
