Hi,

W+K, Nokia, Lcuk, and I have been working on putting together a "library" of videos, showcasing real Maemo Community members talking about what they like about their Nokia N900s. You can view some of the tests here:

http://vimeo.com/maevoice

Yes, you'll notice a bunch of "us" in those videos.

Ok, so now we need "you." At some point in the future, something really cool is going to be done with all of these videos (trust me). And, these videos will be seen by millions of people, all over the world (really).

But, what do we need from you?

Take a look at the videos at the URL above. One of the videos that exemplifies what we're looking for is this one, by Adam (rm_you):

Here are the "rules":

Record one more video where you answer the following question:

"What is your favourite feature on the N900 and why?"

DO
  • Do shoot it in front of a fixed camera or webcam.
  • Do talk directly to camera.
  • Do hold the phone.
  • Do make sure that what you are saying is audible.
  • Do talk about why you like whatever particular feature.
DON'T
  • Don't try to show the feature on the phone. Just hold it.
  • Don't move the camera around. It should be a fixed shot.
Also, one thing you will see in all of the existing videos is us saying the, "This is my voice," part. Don't do that. It was a test and we decided not to use it.

Then what?

Once you have recorded a video (or videos), PM me via this forum and let me know. When you do, I will give you the login info to the Vimeo account where we want the video(s) uploaded.

Easy, no?

Thank you. I look forward to receiving your PMs and seeing your videos!

Tim

I'll join this, once I have an N900 :-)

Are you sure about this particular DON'T? Will you later edit these videos and include the feature working?

The qole one caught my attention, mostly because I think he is using the n900 with my kind of headphones though. This looks interesting but I'm without an n900 still.

@qole: Are those Sennheiser HD 515's and how do they sound on the n900?

heheh I borrowed those headphones from a (German) colleague... Didn't really test them out. I actually use tiny little earbuds myself, but I needed some gigantic headphones that could be seen in the video...

And yeah. When I wasn't forgetting my lines, tripping over cables, or being interrupted by passing trucks, the wind destroyed the sound.

Piece of advice: try to find some unique features to showcase, avoiding something like "it stops music when someone calls" (sine every freaking phone with A2DP for 50 bucks does that) and "I can check facebook" (nowai?!).
P.S.: I better pass this event or I'll be banned instantly. Have fun.

Yes, these types of things will be done later -- professionally.

Thanks,
Tim

Hey all! I'm new here, but I just wanted to thank you for taking part.

I also want to extend the invite to everyone else on Maemo.

This could be a really fun expression of the Maemo community. I'm working on a video myself.

Just a bump. If anyone wants to do a video, I get the impression that this weekend may be your last chance!

I did another one!
