I guess you can say it's been "seen in the wild" now, for the kernel/initfs officially. Check out the screen shots here for the OLPC build for Minimo 0.2. There's a n800 in the picture at the boot screen; note the initfs and kernel version: RX-44 and 2.6.21-omap1. The firmware version itself is still RX-34, but obviously there is progress being made in the kernel/initfs arena. Currently we're at 2.6.18-omap1 kernel and RX-34 initfs for the public release. I hope Antonio doesn't take the image down, but I've saved it in case anyone doubts. It's exciting evidence I suppose, but I don't think anybody doubted we'd have the firmware eventually. More the excitement of saying "Hey!, He's got some piece of something we're all anticipating." Yeah, I know I'm pathetic

P.S. Here's a direct link to the picture in question which I handily forgot in the original post: http://bp3.blogger.com/_YOkWwbhy4YI/...h/DSC00640.jpg
This is turn comes from his post here: http://tonikitoo.blogspot.com/2007/0...2-on-olpc.html

I thought RX-34 was the the N800 product code, just as SU-18 was the 770 product code (according to the FCC submissions). Early "N900" (RX-44?) development perhaps?

You'll need to see the enlarged views to make out the text.

I think this is early development for the NEXT internet tablet.

Notice that the images do NOT have the name "N800" printed on the device .
My normal production N800 has the name under the "KIA" in the word Nokia, but this one doesn't.

It's a prototype alright, of the N800. The versions that Nokia staff had didn't have "N800" labels (either the name wasn't finalised or they didn't want to advertise it).

The product at the bottom is still listed as "RX34", which represents the hardware.

Same Palm and nokia IT as i have lol. Perhaps that is a true shot of the dev version of the new firmware in the wild? And damn I would love to have one of those OLPCs to tool around with.

Su-18 and RX-34 are hardware identifiers.

Sooo... either a typo, or... well, feel free to speculate.

EDIT: interesting. Closer look at the screenshot shows that initfs is identified as RX-44 while the product is shown (correctly) as RX-34. Hmm.

Anyway, I think you guys will be VERY pleased at what's in development.

That's great to hear. I have followed this forum for several months, and I finally pulled the trigger the other night on an N800 from Amazon. I hope that this tablet works out for my needs.

I hope to continue to purchase the newer hardware as it comes out as long as Nokia keeps up the platform software.
