The MeeGo Community OBS is shutting down on 29.May.2013! Backup your stuff until it is too late !
Source - MeeGo mailing list message. Full text:
Code:
Hi everyone

As we knew the MeeGo infrastructure is closing down.

The MeeGo OBS is scheduled for shutdown at the end of next week ~ 29 May.

I should have announced this earlier but I've been busy; sorry.

Please ensure you've taken backups of anything you need - once it's gone it really will be gone!

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone at Intel for continuing to support the MeeGo community for this long with a HUGE special mention to Adam Gretzinger who has helped look after the infrastructure in an efficient and reliable way - if you ever have him as a sysadmin for your project then I'm jealous!

Thanks also go of course, to Neils Breet and Islam Amer who have worn MeeGo sysadmin hats and continue to do so in our new home at the Mer Project.

So with that segue we can look forward to where we've built on the open elements of MeeGo - and hopefully improved them - in the Mer Project.

See https://wiki.merproject.org/ and http://www.merproject.org/ for more info

If you do (or would like to) build opensource projects against Mer, Nemo or PlasmaActive - or plan to build for Jolla's SailfishOS
(https://www.sailfishos.org/) - and want to use the Mer Community OBS at https://build.merproject.org/ you're welcome. Register on our bugzilla https://bugs.merproject.org/ for an account and talk to us on irc in #mer on freenode or on the mailing lists.

Due to resource limitations we will only be able to support builds against Mer based distros (with some special cases for our infrastructure tools like OBS, BOSS, IMG etc) - but do talk to us if you have any questions.

I'll continue to act as a volunteer sysadmin until the lights go out; it's been an experience and a pleasure working with the MeeGo community.

David Greaves / lbt

Soon to be ex-MeeGo.com sysadmin but now Mer Co-Founder and Vendor-relations Guy

Packages for Mer & Nemo Mobile should be easy to move to the Mer OBS instance(https://build.merproject.org/), but it currently has no Harmattan target and will probably not have it even in the future. Any ideas how feasible the resurrection of the experimental Fremantle/Maemo OBS instance would be ?

EDIT: URL COBS resides on this URL:

EDIT 1: cleaned up newlines in the ML message

EDIT 2: Fix Mer/Nemo Mobile wording.

I talked to lbt, he said
[2013-05-26 14:32:04] <lbt> hey, sorry - but it's 5 days from shutdown
[2013-05-26 14:32:08] <lbt> it's simply too late
[2013-05-26 14:32:45] <DocScrutinizer05> dafaq, how long do you need to do a disk image??
[2013-05-26 14:33:10] <lbt> I cannot hand out disk images
( https://mg.pov.lt/maemo-irclog/%23ma...05-26T15:32:04 )

See irc log for details.
my suggestion: you find somebody who's willing to invest the effort of keeping stuff alive. Council can't help on that.
[2013-05-26 14:43:28] <DocScrutinizer05> I strongly suggest contacting OSUOSL about the issue, after all they claim meego is hosted at them. And afaik meego [edit: and COBS] is a FOSS project (otherwise it wouldn't be at OSUOSL to begin with), so OSUOSL might be more than willing to sustain the project and hosting, even when some sponsor steps down

It seems that setting up an OBS instance and syncing the existing target is the easiest way.

I am trying to set up an OBS on an OpenSUSE VM right now but I'm stuck. Somebody with more knowledge of this system is required.

Relevant links:

http://wiki.meego.com/Build_Infrastr...up_openSUSE114
http://wiki.meego.com/User:Stskeeps/...to_a_local_OBS

please, if you know how to set up an OBS, step up, I can give you access to the VM

EDIT: I also fired a mail to support at osuosl to check out what possibilities we have there. Unless more people come forward and offer to help I don't see this having big chances though.

yes I backuping all sources I can , also binaries but it takes LONG time

If you want to make sure your stuff is also backuped please contact me directly or use obs submit to home:rzr ... find me online if needed

I'll do my best for harmattan preservation ...

If you want also to mirror stuff , send me a ssh/rsync id , I'll upload my stuff too

Btw, now it getting pretty slow to finish my backup (over 100GB) so if you backuping at the same time , it would ease If you could stop and contact me to do then I upload back to you ...

Mer at the least is not reliant on the MeeGo OBS. It has always had seperate infrastructure, and the imports there were for the convenience of projects building against it (like Nemo and PA).

Both Nemo and PA have, afair, moved off of build.meego.com for a while now, so those projects at least are not at major risk.

That was an unfortunate formulation on my side - it should have been "Mer and Nemo packages. I'll fix the first post.

BTW, I've already moved my Mer/Nemo stuff to Mer OBS last week.
