I could be wrong but I have understood that Tizen does not use Mer and is not very compatible with it; when the Meego alliance was blown up Samsung and Intel partnered to form Tizen but did not really try to reuse anything left off from Mer/Meego.

It never did. Well, Tizen evolved from MeeGo, and Mer did the same. They have a common ancestor but diverted a lot since then. At some point Samsung mixed in LiMo, too.

Edit: looks like the most MeeGoish Tizen is the Tizen IVI project that Intel at some point silently dropped, too.

How can Samsung make a non-Android OS/device looks *exactly* same as an Android? Sick...

Why? Makes perfect sense. Why waste resources developing the HW twice?
