Hi everyone,

i just want this thread to be a good reference for someone like me who might have questions about installing files on the N9.

After browsing through the net, it seems that a lot of apps or what not come in a ".deb" file. and i see threads suggesting to use file manager to open it.

Are the steps to open one of these file the following?

1. Download the .deb file on computer and transfer to phone
2. use file manager to locate the file and open it
3. Turn on developer mode? is this needed?
4. after installing software, can i delete that .deb file, or do i keep it?
5. or do i need to turn on developer mode first then open it with file manager?

Thanks!

3. dev mode not needed, but you need to allow installations from non-Source souces in Settings>Applications>Installations
4. after install you can delete .deb file
