I put the font name wrongly, and then restarted the idle screen from the command line. I hit the lock button to go to idle, which then failed to start (just flashed black/off very briefly), dropping me back on the terminal.

Then I might still have been able to fix things, but I accidentally went out of the term to another program, then I couldn't come back, the device locked up / crashed, rebooted and went into reboot cycling, from nil to the point where it should briefly show the idle screen (just before asking the SIM pin).
I shut it off by holding the power button for several secs.

Tried to restart without the SIM, no change, same thing.

And I'm certain that that was the only system thing I was touching.
Ah well.

What bugs me more is that it's still on 1.0... no swype, lots of other things still missing.. :-(

Comments on the colour to use...:

taking into account the following:
- N9 has a pentile display
- generally, LEDs have different current consumption/required voltage levels per colour; red needing the lowest and blue the highest, green in the middle

It's best to use green for highest resolution / sharpest text. Note that the regular clock in white (grey) will show jagged edges on vertical lines (check at..n:11 or so).
Green is the one colour that really has the 854x480 resolution.

It's likely lowest power to use red, not sure how using blue vs green will play out - there are 2x as many green pixels as there are red or blue ones.
I wouldn't think that blue takes so much more energy per pixel that it compensates against 2 green pixels, but then the total light output pixel for red and blue pixels may be tweaked/increased to compensate for the lower amount of those..?
If so, I'd guess that blue text takes the most, then green and lastly red the least energy.

Hey, have you guys seen this? Do unlocked N9's come with operator logos?

I want my lock screen to look like this:

Where can I find that "MeeGo" image?

There must've been some other things your were doing at the same time???

*shouldn't have triggered anything to do with AEGIS, surely.
I can confirm that if you make some typo fault it will end up bricking the phone.. I made the same thing..

Could someone explain how to get that nice LED style clock on standby screen?

It's just a different font for the clock, as discussed earlier in this thread. Note: be careful with the font indication in the css, mistakes may lead to a bricked phone - which can be revived by flashing it.
