Hi thanks Nicolai for the app i was looking for!

I use skype+gtalk+msn+yahoo+SIP+jabber and everything works.

Now I would like to turn OFF all messages and instead create an log-file with ALL the status changes so i can check later that someone was online+protocol. Is that a possibility for the future or will a daemon like that suck the battery dry quickly?

Friendstatus logs the status messages, but only
status messages and not status changes.

+1

AFAIK friendstatus only logs status when the app running (and there's no way to run it as daemon)
would be nice if this app can also log status changes to file, just like what pidgin does with its system log

Done!
Version 0.4
http://maemo.org/packages/view/presence-notifier/

Logfile is in /home/user/MyDocs/presence_notifier.txt
Enable log option in the control panel.
(you may have to reboot (or killall hildon-status-menu)
after package update.)

It works perfectly and i can open the logfile with gnu nano from commandline

I have some new ideas:

1. What about a bubble pop-up message for specific contacts? As in: not for all contacts. This must be a bit hard to code, i suppose.

2. How to set the time value in the presence_notifier.txt logfile to simply 24 hrs instead of am/pm ? My n900 is set to 24 hrs, but the logfile stays in am/pm
