Excellent, man! I just love the zooming transition in single column mode.

very nice work!

suggestion: have the windows loop so around so there is no stop at the bottom or top, just looping back to the first window

Is there anyway to apply this to modified-hildon-desktop? I need my ability to make ctrl-back act like alt-tab.

Before anyone asks for sources, it's the same one in public/maemo/sources with thp's patches applied.

Edit: and here's a single column deb, http://mohammadag.xceleo.org/public/...+0m5_armel.deb
I get a "unable to update 'hildon-desktop'. Incompatible application package"

I just opened it up with the Application Manager... am I doing this right?

I'll agree with this. I like the patch (and thanks to MohammadAG for packaging it for as installable .deb) but it needs a bit more work. Maybe adjusting from the Settings? I'd request though a bit faster effects for scrolling, since it's now quite slow and since I'm running the Black Plastic-theme I'm used to fast transitions.

Oh, and sideways-scrolling would be quite nice add-on too. I know, this is open sourced, I could modify it but alas, I don't know how to code, sadly. Maybe in next year, but most likely not before that.

But again, thanks for discovering this patch. Uninstallation instructions for low end-users would be welcome, since at least I had some trouble of uninstalling this patch (in the end I just ended up replacing the dual view with single).

Here's an initial try on that patch:

http://thpinfo.com/2010/maemo/hildon...switcher.patch

There are some problems, however (probably due to the assumption that scrolling is always vertical in other parts of the code):
  • Horizontal drag motions are not always detected correctly (workaround: start drags by placing your finger just below the top edge of a thumb, and move down, then move left/right)
  • The zoom in/zoom out animation is broken (zooms in too much to the right, zooms out a bit too much to the left)

Please also note that this patch applies on top of the previous patch, and that in this mode, I only allow the "single-column" (now single-row) mode, not the two-column mode. Theoretically it would be possible to do horizontal two-column (i.e. two-row) mode as well, but let's fix single column mode first.
