What do you mean by app icons in portrait mode?

Isn't that normal?

Maybe your sensor really is borked?

Sorry, I mean to say landscape mode
EDIT: If the sensor is really faulty, the screen wouldn't turn off during a call, right? Also, the autolock function doesn't work when I keep the phone unlocked...

Oh landscape mode?

Maybe we re-install the full sys-ui?

Code:
apt-get install system-ui system-ui-screenlock-nokia system-ui-status-indicator-menu-volume-nokia system-ui-theme-nokia system-ui-volume-nokia --reinstall
Yup true maybe your sensor is not faulty

Reinstalled.
Didn't solve the problem. Alright, let me try N9QTweak now as this had solved the OP's problem. I didn't want to install N9QTweak because I was on PR1.2. But now I am on PR1.3
Will update the progress

So you flashed to pr1.3 now? Shouldn't that have solved the issue?

That's what I mentioned here... I didn't flash the phone explicitly. The apt-get install -f and apt-get install system-ui-screenlock-nokia --reinstall which I did in the first place upgraded my phone to PR1.3 and that was why it took that much time... Now this is weird, I know

Even being on PR1.3 didn't solve the problem. Let me try N9QTweak. If that too doesn't solve it, I give up

You post so fast I can't keep track

Anyway its better you do a clean flash to pr1.3 in this case...

Check in Settings I think it will still show pr1.2 but you are having system packages of pr1.3...

Yeah, already checked in settings. It says:
Nokia N9:
MeeGo 1.2 Harmattan
Version:
PR1.3
(40.2012.21-3.333.1_PR_333)

And the software update message on homescreen also vanished
One last try with N9QTweak. If it doesn't work out, reflash is the only option left

Update [SOLVED]: N9QTweak didn't help as it did for the OP But I did a simple system reset from settings and the sensor started responding again
I should've done this in the first place

Thanks a lot dead man for your support
