Hi,

this is a short "howto" use the db-railnavigator midlet from "Deutsche Bahn" with N9/N900/N950 and phoneME. I did it with my N9. It is an application for german railway and bus, but it is usable in austria and switzerland too.

You can download "station to station" timetables for train and bus on your N9 and use them offline and online of course.

What you need:

dbmidlet.jar, you can download it here:
http://railnavigator.bahn.de/rnav/dbmidlet.jar
http://railnavigator.bahn.de/rnav/dbmidlet.jad

phoneME:
http://davy.preuveneers.be/phoneme/p...0523_armel.deb
for N900 you should download the maemo version
read more: http://davy.preuveneers.be/phoneme/ and http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=81969
You should use the stable version from 20120523, its best for scrolling, but does not support screen orientation change. Newer version has virtual keyboard support, but I can not use it with dbmidlet.jar. It has its own keyboard.

Install phoneME on your Phone (tap on it in list of Transfers) or use
dbpk -i /<path-to>/cvm_meego-mr2.b168+svn20547-20120523_armel.deb
from Terminal.

After intallation start "MIDlet Settings", it has a desktop-fashioned UI - do not tremble, better take a drink ;-)
set checkbox at "Start in fullscreen" and "Rotate midlet 90 degrees" then "Save" and "Close"

You can copy the "dbmidlet.jar" to any location you want. For example to /home/user/MyDocs/dbmidlet.jar.

In a terminal you can start it with
/opt/phoneme/bin/runmidlet /home/user/MyDocs/dbmidlet.jar

If it is working you can crate a .desktop file in /home/user/.local/share/application (it is usable this way for N9/N950, change it for N900 - runstandalone.sh I think)

dbmidlet.phoneMe.desktop
[Desktop Entry]
Encoding=UTF-8
Version=1.0
Type=Application
Terminal=false
Name=Navigator
Comment=DB schedule
Exec=/usr/bin/invoker --type=e --single-instance /opt/phoneme/bin/runmidlet /home/user/MyDocs/dbmidlet.jar
Icon=/home/user/MyDocs/bahn.png
X-Window-Icon=
X-HildonDesk-ShowInToolbar=true
X-Osso-Type=application/x-executable

You should create your own icon /home/user/MyDocs/bahn.png. I took the DB logo from Internet and made the background transparent. It looks very nice, but I cannot share it - because its a DB-logo. You can also find some icons in the jar, jar is zip. rename a cpoy of the jar-file to dbmidlet.zip and extract all and look for png files.

Hope you have fun in railing and using this "app". May be you are better informed than the conductor, you can check if the train is on time.
