This webkit engine this thread is talking about was good while tear was not there yet. Now tear is the better browser and webkit-eal was discontinued.

The first versions of the Tear browser were here long before the webkit-eal was implemented.

That's true, but they were unusable. The original developer of webkit-eal was who proved that webkit can be compiled and actually work on the tablets. That motivated me to get my build in shape at last. After he disappeared without leaving the last sources behind, hns took over and adapted the webkit-eal engine to the webkit build I'm using (and contributing the HIM support on the way). So currently webkit-eal and Tear use the same webkit engine. Correct me if I missed something.

webkit-eal has a long and rocky history, iirc...

Wow, this thread reads like a novel...
Unfortunately, I cannot access pages 41 to 43
I cannot add new entries into Google calendar with tear, and it crashes all the time. webkit-eal works...

...finaly I could read the missing pages also. There should be some kind of public funding for open source programmers.

Peter, do you know if webkit-eal can work with, and save to the web, a TiddlyWiki on tiddlyspot.com? TiddlySpot hosts personal TiddlyWikis for free; but tear can't work with it at all, and MicroB can't save to it.

Also, how good do you find webkit-eal for general browsing?

watch out tho, the version of webkit-eal that shares webkit version with tear has the same text input issue.

that is, if there is any text in a input area, and one tries to move the cursor to the left f the first letter (into the side of the area) then webkit will hang, taking the browser with it.

Yes, you're right. Sorry. I was still associating webkit-eal with pronvit.
