I had to toggle that "reg_from_outside = no;" setting to get sipgate working via vpn9c. I did it as imagomundi describes it here
In my case it was a fritzbox 7270v3 running firmware 74.05.22.

But only sipgate is working for me right now. Other accounts do not, e.g. sip2sip.info, nor does the N9 work as an IP-phone via VPN.

By the way, with a shared secret, that contained a "[" und a ")" I could not establish the VPN tunnel, because of the Group Pwd being wrong. After I had removed just those two characters, the problem was gone.

Edit: I cannot repeat calls with sipgate through VPN. No idea what might be the difference.

Hi,

it seems there is a bug in the firmware '54.05.29-24296' of the FritzBox.
SIP over VPN is running without problems using another VPN-Server.

But I had to find out that using a vpn-tunnel with vpn9c is draining the battery very heavily. So it's no good idea to establish a vpn-tunnel as long as you are connected to 3G/Wifi-Hotspot...

I have it runing on my FB7270 and its working.
You need to set reg_from_outside on the fritzbox to use them like an SIP-Provider.

I have the problem that my N9 have vpn9c connection to FB and sip registred on Fritzbox.
Incomming and outgoing calls are working but i have no audio transfer in any direction

Think i will do a new thread N9 SIP-Connection with Fritz!Box

Hey quick question: Can you port it to sailfish, too? VPNC is available, but a GUI like yours would be awesome

Better of trying to contact the dev directly (find that source), rather than from here (PM from here could help too).

Sorry for slow reply :/

I don't think I have time/interest to port that to Jolla -- Jolla is interesting
and I might have one when my N9 breaks down (that will be several
years as my track record of keeping phones working is good, although
N900 broke before 3 years...) -- unless Jolla publishes phone with
hardware keyboard (I am not holding my breath)...
... bigger reason is that vpn9c does now work for me anymore as the
authentication method changed a bit -- I also used it in purposes that
make lock dialog harder to use, so I've reverted out of it. ssh tunnels
are what I now use...
The guru-group link provided above contains the latest code (i think),
I could make a git repository available somewhere is there were interest...
