The limits imposed on file attachments should be changed.

I trued to upload a few dictionary databases and I had to make split .rar archives of 400kb and then re-archive each individual part as a zip.

Here's my issue: http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...6&postcount=18

I propose increasing the size limit to at least 5 mb and perhaps multi part archives should be allowed as well.

Thanks

I would suggest starting a garage project for the dictionarys or posting them some were else and linking to files. t.m.o is not the place for large file storage.

I know but those particular ones really don't take up much space.
I posted them on mediafire a few months ago but they got erased.

I've asked for help on how to build an app/installer for them but plain guides and links simply won't do for me. The time simply doesn't allow me so I would need step by step guidance on how to create the installer, then I could maintain it myself.

I don't really know how a garage project would bring the dictionaries on the devices of those who need them but it seems a good start IMHO.

It would give you a place to store them were they will not be deleted.

ok...
  • SVN
  • Git

My "project" contains databases for another app, but it might evolve at some point into an installer. What should I choose?

SVN but doesn't really matter since for now you are going to just upload files. and not use either

I agree that you shouldn't use the forum for that purpose and host the file(s) somewhere else, so you have more control. If those files ever update, you won't be able to update those attachments unless you ask a moderator to remove them from you.

Something is seriously wrong with the garage site.

ERROR: Could not create group: ERROR: value too long for type character varying(255)

And that's when I'm lucky enough for the page to load.

No idea what it is and I don't think I've exceed any character limit...
