Uhm, the basic idea of this tech preview is that potential developers can already report bugs. You really *shouldn't* wait if you plan to use the stable release later.

The reason is that reporting bugs against a stable release is useless if its solution involves more than a little patch. In a stable release, this would not be possible.

Qgil specifically said "Consider finish your current release in order to get to Extras and start working in the new release already on top of this 4.6 port.", and this means a window of no new releases for 2-5 months. That was my concern, not (potential) bugs. If you want/have 4.6 specific functionality, then it's not a question, you would be using 4.6 anyway (i.e. nothing to push to Extras now).

Who said there won't be another extras-devel release in between?

That is not for end users, so a bit out of scope The discussion was about pushing things to Extras (proper), that's why I said 'waiting in extras-devel' in my previous post.

I should have been more explicit few posts above: there are instructions at http://wiki.maemo.org/Miniature/Deve...Qt4_for_Maemo5

Perhaps it would be worth to detach that page from /Miniature since it's equally usefull to all developers willing to deal with Qt 4.6

The Qt 4.6 is maintained directly by the Qt team. There is http://lists.trolltech.com/mailman/l...maemo-feedback for direct feedback and support.

Perhaps there they can tell you more about approximate dates and also whether they plan to have more releases in between. From a Maemo point of view, the sooner the better.

If someone points me to the right wiki page I can put the common parts there.

Mmm... maybe it's time to break this redirect:

http://wiki.maemo.org/index.php?title=Qt&redirect=no

Anyway, the closer page seems to be http://wiki.maemo.org/Qt_Maemo_Git_Process

I know this is a Maemo5 thread.
But I would like to know what will be the situation with Diablo.

Any idea if there will be an official Qt4.6 for Maemo4 ?

No official Qt 4.6 planned for Diablo.

attila77, it of course depends on how yoju organize your releases. I'mno suggesting to stop new bugfix releases while 4.6 comes as stable. Keep the coming for 4.5 if you wish. The advice is to use 4.6 if you are working on new developments or major features.

But still, you might want to check already now how your current code works against the Qt 4.6 libraries and start estimating the work needed to be in the right path.

Hmph. I am not sure about the second link. For now, I've put in on the horribly crowded but incredibly useful Qt/Hildon page: http://wiki.maemo.org/Qt4_Hildon#Usi...w_in_Fremantle
