if mine is defective tomorrow
i'm just going to return it and get full refund

so here's our journey so far with the N900

pre-order -> wait -> more wait -> order cancelled by nokia -> re-order -> wait -> more wait -> order decline by bank -> re-order -> wait -> phone in hand but can't make calls

great, if mine is defective as well, i'm going to ditch Nokia
i had the N97, that was a big disappointment, really look toward for the n900 and now this

so far from what i can tell
people who are not having the mic issue did not charge their device before turning it on for the first time

Wow, that's messed up. Static discharge or something fried the mic?
Yeah, I charged plugged my phone into mains before turning it on for the first time, but then I only charged it for an hour before I had to head out. But no mic issues here.

is this confirmed. i still have to get home and open the box, if this is the case i will start my phone, drain the battery and than charge it.

Dont drain the battery the entire way - that seems to lead to a possible problem with being unable to charge.
