Are you checking in by navigating to a venue, or from the leaderboard > "check in with a friend" feature?

The latter had per-checkin broadcast settings broken (I never updated the code when I added the feature actually), and I'll push a fix later today/tomorrow.

No, I always check in via "Search/Explore" navigation button.
As I said, the new checkboxes in the check-in dialog have just no effect. They are just ignored by the rest of your code...
(But posting by the checkboxes in settings work okay.)

Wow, that's really wierd, especially since I don't use anything GTK-related.
This is on an N900, right?

Did the application crash after that, or did it continue running fine?

not walk and could not be opened after the previous update update can be used
