Wait... Besides Skype, there's also XMPP support missing? This strengthens my belief that the N9 is just an overpriced, pretty iPhone competitor instead of N900 successor.

I'm not really interested in Skype (even less since it became MS owned), but XMPP/Jingle support is really essential. Ideal thing would be some open source client, that could also benefit Nemo. Is anyone working on it (does Peregrine project plan that?).

Of course XMPP's there....
The jingle component is what's missing.
Back on topic.....
Has anyone approached the Peregrine devs to beta test yet?

Also keep voting on those bugs I linked to in the 1st post.
That's one of the best ways to get Nokia's attention
In particular vote for the XMPP/Jingle(gtalk) one.
That has the greatest chance at being implemented IMO.

We REALLY need video calling on this phone. This would make it complete. Atleast for me. I'm contemplating selling this phone if it's not implemented by PR 1.2...

Anyone contacted them via IRC yet??
We have to approach them & offer to beta test.
See the nokiagadget story in the 1st post.

The N810 only had aMSN for video. Looking like the N9 is going down the same path. Only something that I'd rarely use will probably end up with video calling on this device instead of something I'd readily use... like Skype.

What, aMSN? I used jabber account for video calling with N810. Would be my preferred choice for N9 also.

Have you tried contacting the Peregrine devs to offer to beta test?
(They were planning on doing Skype "&" XMMP/Jingle)
I would but I'm still waiting on the White N9 to become available here

Jabber video on the N810 was horrific. It rarely worked unless you were talking to somebody on the same platform - in the US, good luck with that. aMSN worked, worked well. But it's on a protocol I'd rather have not used.

Skype video or bust. If they bring Jabber, then it needs to be GTalk compatible 100% and updated.
