You may want to check this thread:

It's all about USB soundcard output and input. As for connecting stereo microphone to N900's audio port, no way - microphone in is mono there (shared with video-out, so it's either mono sound in, or video out), and I don't know any way to reprogram N900's audio L and R out, to act as L and R in.

What is the situation for stereo mic recording on N9?
