A new version of Windows for ARM-based tablet computers is reportedly being developed by Microsoft. The ARM processor is used in Apple's iPad and in smartphones, but Windows for ARM may not be available for two years. An analyst noted that supporting a chip architecture is only one step toward Microsoft becoming a major player in tablets.

I'd rather they hedged their bets for more powerful hardware like they used to do and developed a workable universal touch layer (with dev accessible APIs) over Intel Win7/8 for business/power users and developed WinPho7 for consumer tabletting. Windows on ARM makes no sense.
