Hello everybody,
I am wondering that I did not found a VDR-Application to switch the tv-channel using my N900 at watching TV on my VDR....I simply can switch my channels in a terminal by:
telnet <ip> <port>
...then ex. CHAN 3
...this is called/using SVDRP (simple VDR protocoll

but maemo has no Gui? NO vdr-fans around in this great linux-maemo-corner?

Hallo dreizehn,

I can not install vdradmin on my m740-dvbt....
and do not want to have a separate server/PC running with a vdradmin for my box....

other distributions have ex:

for android:
http://de.androlib.com/android.appli...roid-pwAi.aspx

for palm-Web-OS:
http://developer.palm.com/webChannel...gs-de.vdremote

But I like maemo5
:-)

any ideas?

BTW with streamdev and external ogg theora reencoding you can watch VDR TV on N900 mediaplayer - also over VPN :-)

Bye

Hi Thorsten,

you do not use your n900 for remote?...to set your channel on vdr? ...or volume?

Hi schasch,

you're right, there should be an easy-to-use GUI to (remote)control your VDR box.
That's actually one of the reasons why I wanted to get a phone like the N900.

I'm really surprised that there is no solution available yet according to your post from april. If that's really the case, then I'll program one for the N900.
A while ago i created a simple GUI written in Qt4 which talks to the VDR using the SVDRP protocoll over a TCP connection. It was successfully running on a windows mobile phone thanks to Qt4's platform independance.

In principle i just need to recompile it for the N900. however, i haven't had the time to setup a development environement for the N900 yet.

if you still follow this thread and you're still interested in a GUI, please contact me, then i'll give u at least this simple gui.

for the long run, i'll plan to write a full-featured control app for the N900 where u can e.g. list epg info, program timers and so on. Thanks to the clean SVDRP protocol, it's really easy to do so. i _only_ need to find some time

cheers,
Tom

Hello,

I opened a new Project in the garage for it.
http://qvdremote.garage.maemo.org (will maybe be available in max 72 hours after checking from the admins)

I progged a VERY simple remote and will upload it.

On download-Success I will overwork the look and functions
if I find the time.

The .deb is created with :
Qt Creator 2.0.1
Basierend auf Qt 4.7.0 (32 bit)
Erstellt am Oct 7 2010 um 13:24:26
Revision 113d4c5618

It can be installed by "dpkg -i qvdremote_0.0.1_armel.deb"..
the programmanager has a problem installing it...I do not know why? (any Tipps?)

I do not know why apt-get does not work?

apt-get doesn't work with local files, but with repositories. For installation from local deb-files "dpkg -i" is the right way (which is working as it seems from your post).

but I tried it also with programm-manager...this does not work too....

"programpackage not compaible" (translated from german)
???

I thought that .deb's could be installed by the GUI-app?

isn't it?
