Michal at My-Symbian got his today and said it was a commerical sample. Michal's proto-type review rocked and got me to order the N900, so looking forward to his update

Please post any final product reviews you find!

Wow! I liked his initial review. Even posted it in a sticky on HoFo. >> http://howardforums.com/showpost.php...61&postcount=1

Then I saw this thread here on talk.maemo.org >> http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=33603

...and now the posts in the thread linked in the preceding post.

It looks to me like Nokia went above and beyond in sending him one of the first commercial release N900's and yet people still aren't satisfied. I know he is not making the negative remarks but by not addressing them, he is allowing this negativity to build.

***

I'm sorry Symbian is now relegated to "E" class machines by Nokia but Maemo has been here a while. Quite a few developers and enthusiastic users have shared the vision that has helped elevate Maemo to where it is today.
This forum and maemo.org were no secret. Where were all the Symbian folks then?

Should Nokia send devices to iPhone and Android bloggers as well?

I'm just wondering what the source of the negativity is.

here's another review, they don't say the device is pre-production so I'm assuming it's the retail unit:

Why does it say "N00" instead of "N900" on the top right of the device?

BTW- I can spell "commericial"- how do you change a title? I have tried but had no luck changing it.

Added: The T3 article seems more like a non-product applied overview and not a review of an actual product.

That's a fairly early prototype from, I believe, before the hardware was completely finalised. IIRC some/all of these had a different bluetooth chip that the actual N900s (?).

http://www.chip.de/artikel/Nokia-N90..._38039778.html

German magazine reviewed their N900 which they received on the 16th.

They say there's one big con: the battery doesn't last long at all. It dies after 3 hours of internet browsing or a phone call (of the same duration).
