Hello,
I have searched and looked around.
Is it possible to install Meego on my N900 using multiboot?

I do not want to use U-Boot as I use multiboot for many other uses (not android these days ).

Does anyone have a link to download Meego 1.1 and some help with quick guide and maybe a kernel??

Simple answer "NO". You have to use u-boot to use meego,
If you are using windows 7 or xp then it is simple for you to boot meego.

IMPORTANT- You should have atleast 2gb mmc,extra-devel should be enable in your apps manager and Maemo-Flasher.

First go to: http://tablets-dev.nokia.com/meego-codedrop.php

1.Download the latest meego.img and meego kernel.(From above site)
2.Uncompress raw image (Using bzip or 7zip etc)
3.Download the Win32DiskImager.exe program (https://launchpad.net/win32-image-writer/+download)
4.Run the win32DiskImager,exe
5.select the meego image
6.Select your 2gb mmc directory
7.Click write button (It will send meego image in your mmc)

Now at last,
If you need to boot to meego,You have to use Maemo Flasher every time.
Open your meego flasher,Type

flasher-3.5 -l -k <kernel> -b (You need to change kernel to your meego kernel)
Then,It will boot meego.

You should know, If any problem comes quickly flash your n900.

Thanks.
Why is it that ONLY using uboot works??
Multiboot flashes the kernel as you select it...
Is it because it has no access to nand (where Kernels are stored to MB) or something even fancier?

This is odd, if it's just a kernel that needs to be flashed.....

I'm not trying to rehash old issues (I never looked into it after the initial meego announcements)

the MeeGo kernel or something in userspace seems to overwrite the memory at the addressable space where multiboot is stored.

bootmenu might need to hijack initfs closer to when NOLO lets go in order to allow this? You'd have to ask somebody who knows the loader process.

Thanks very much!
That's most likely the reason why my N900 absolutely died in the *** when I used Multiboot to install Meego kernel *.36. Just destroyed the entire multiboot part of my phone [entire reflash].. (I just remembered this)

My suggestion will be not try meego on your n900 atleast now, because in April there will meego 1.2 edition which will be much more usable then meego 1.1. Hold your breath for meego 1.2. (Hope it will be much more faster)

forgive my ignorance - what does this mean? (apart from that it obviously refers to MeeGo 1.2 on the N900).

it might be looking better on the functionality side (blocking bugs etc) but the timings are still high, in my humble opinion.

Coming from an Maemo/CSSU N900 I think these times are a bit scary, even if I know this is a dev release:

* Device Boot up time 80sec
* Browser start time 32sec
* Dialer start time 7sec
* SMS start time 5sec

I hope more speed improvements will come before the April release. I know things have improved a lot already, I can only hope ...

N900 HW adaptation team, keep up the good work.

it's possible to boot into meego through multiboot and I do have it working with multiboot, but the problem is whenever i boot into meego i have to reflash the kernel using flasher-tool in order to get the multiboot menu back .
