Hi,

After I installed PR1.2 via OTA my phone booted with the following error. Has anyone seen it before?

---
(Big Orange Triangle With Exclamation Mark)
Device not working properly
Try updating the device software with Nokia Software Updater. If the problem persists, contact the nearest Nokia Care point.

(OK button)

Software problem (fiasco-flasher):
nolo-ssu-2.3.6+0m7.fiasco, kernal-2.6.32.48-df161-20115101.fiasco, cmtImage-9.2.2011.50
---

On all subsequent boots I get a warning message that I've voided the warranty and the keypad security code features are all disabled.

I've reflashed the phone to PR1.1 and tried again but exactly the same thing happens. Also tried NSU but that always fails.

The other strange thing is the version number in "About Product" is now a mix of PR1.1 date and PR1.2 name. It is: PR1.2 (20.2011.40-4_PR_005)

I've also tried flashing to PR1.2 and and several other version. Even when flasher completes successfully it just bricks the phone. Tried changing the product code too.

The other thing that may be useful is after flashing with any firmware, doing a version check with "flasher -i" always reports sw-release version: PR1.2 20.2011.40-4_PR_005. Is that okay?

It is almost like that phone is stuck thinking it is on version 20.2011.40-4_PR_005.

Any ideas much appreciated!

You can not go to an older version!
So I am sure you did something wrong.
Download the PR1.2 one click flasher from http://harmattan-dev.nokia.com/release/N950/firmware/
and try again!

Hi,

Thank you for your reply.

The OnClickFlasher page says:

"Note: These tools are to be used only with the N950 device, do not attempt to update your N9 device with them!"

I was using this page to as a flash guide: http://forums.internettablettalk.com...ad.php?t=82693

The flasher will exit with an error if it's detected to be a downgrade.

For me any image other than the original PR1.1 (even upgrade) bricked the phone even when the flash was successful.

As far as I can tell the OneClickFlasher is for N950 only.

The page I used to guide me through flashing was http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=82693

The flasher actually reports an error and exits if you attempt a disallowed downgrade. If I flash with Northern Europe PR1.2 the flashing completes successfully by the phone is bricked.

Hi caco3

If you have an N9 that has been updated or flashed to PR1.2 I'd be interested to know what "sw-release version" flasher -i reports?

In what way is it "bricked"? As long as you follow the downgrade rule, flashing back to PR1.2 shouldn't be a problem.

I get the error in this image and it never boots.

are you sure that you have tested: flasher -f -F rightimage.bin --erase-user-data=secure

It should help on most of the problems, unless you have mix&matched different variants together which can cause permanent brick.

flasher -f -F rightimage.bin --erase-user-data=secure worked to restore it to PR1.1. I didn't use erase-user-data everytime though.

The only mixing and matching I've done is to use a different image for --flash-only=mmc

The log below shows a flash attempt that flashes ok but bricks the phone.

Might --erase-user-data=secure have made a difference?

Do you know where the data is stored that is shown with the shell command:

sysinfoclient -p /device/sw-release-ver

If it is stored in the area that --erase-user-data=secure clears then that might explain why the value didn't update after the flashing in the log below when I did flasher -i afterwards.
