I've made a little, not so good looking (yet) update.
Mainly it's meant to tell the user if current used BTS is a standard and safe BTS from the telecommunication operator.

It searches in a manually added database for the Cell ID and/or MMC+CID if CID was not found and shows a warning when not found (possible that there is a new BTS nearby or someone uses fake BTS to sniff the traffic).

Known bugs:
1. The database has to be added manually to the netmon dir.
2. Possible problems if there is no database added.
3. Not every country has a list of BTSs
4. BTS lists are managed by enthusiasts with miscellaneous hardware and software - the lists vary between even each row.
5. If the CID is CID+MNC (or something like that) in the database, program won't take that as known CID.
6. Any data from database may vary to data from BTS because of some upgrades on mast.

Hope someone will find it useful

I've added a function searching in a database stored on the device for Cell ID used by mobile. It was intended to tell the user if the BTS is new in area which possibly means someone is sniffing phone calls or other traffic which means that someone may violate our privacy.
For now it's not the prettiest thing in the world but I think the idea is clear.
I got the database from btsearch.org but there are better web pages, more international.

Known bugs:
1. searches in database which has to be named "database.clf" and be stored in NetMon catalogue.
2. searches only for combination like CID and MNC+CID.
3. doesn't compare with previous iteration and searches each time NetMon gathers information.

Displaying neighboring cells is possible on newer Sailfish devices (not on J1)

Has been around since early 2017 but there was zero interest so it hasn't been released to the store.

Unfortunately I cannot find an RPM (or naked binary, Python script or whatever) for SailfishOS there.

@spag
I have seen just a few hours ago that you ported it to Sailfish.
We do not have a change notice for modified posts here on TMO (that is better on TJC ) so nobody was made aware.
I'd like to see it on openrepos.net!
