I went to see how much Nokia Canada is selling N810s for (because people had been saying that Nokia USA is selling them for $225 USD), only to discover that they've closed shop until 2010!

Q: Is your online store in Canada closing? When and why?

A: Yes, as of 06/09/09 Nokia's online store will be closed as we focus on enhancing our site and making improvements to the total customer experience. We want to ensure we are offering our valued customers the ultimate online shopping experience through a site that is convenient and easy to navigate.

Q: When will the new online store be fully operational in Canada?
A: We anticipate our new and improved online store will open in early 2010

Q: What can customers expect to see with the new Canadian online store?
A: Our customers will find our new site to be comprehensive, informative and easy to use.

Q: In the meantime, where should Nokia customers in Canada go to get the Nokia accessories they require?
A: While our Canadian online store is under construction we recommend that our customers visit their local Rogers Corporate store, Fido Corporate store, Wireless Wave, Telephone Booth, La Cabine Telephonique, Best Buy, Best Buy Mobile, Future Shop, or authorized independent reseller as listed on our website (http://nokia.ca/findastore). Customers should contact their preferred location prior to visiting the store.

Q: How does a customer return a product after the store is closed?
A: The existing processes would continue to support the customers, so please find more information on (http://www.nokia/ca).

Note: Our online store is getting a face lift and will be closed while re-design efforts are underway. Enhancements will be made to provide our valued customers with the ultimate online shopping experience by 2010. Please check back for periodic updates.

EDIT: Notice that both of the links given in the above text DO NOT WORK...

Not that anyone is surprised, but it's late 2010 and a Canadian online store is nowhere to be found. LOL, Nokia. LOL.

On the plus side, the "Find a Store" page exists now and actually contains what appears to be appropriate information. That's a sort of progress.

Isn't it?

Oh, forget it. Despite all the talk of Nokia ignoring the U.S., well, you win again, Canada!

Oh, it's just a huge mindf*ck by Elop.

He's applying reverse psychology to the whole world.

N9 is marketed as a rare and 'dead end' product; look at how much the public wants it.

Now they're closing their outlets one by one. By the time they're down to a single outlet in Oulu, they will already be back as #1 mobile producer in the world again.

Don't you worry.

Nokia: We're closing our stores to serve you better!

It's kinda sad that when you visit their old "Nokia USA" site. It
shows you a page saying the site is closed, and then a popup window appears asking you to take a survey about what you think of their website!
