Looks like you have to disable the repository containing contacts and dates ...

Or reflash your device and install (that's what I did)

Be carefull if you use gpe because the databases are not backup'ed anymore ...

I tried to follow your setup instructions, but some of the fields I'm seeing in the SIP account setup don't match with the fields you have listed.

I'm looking at this setup: http://rtcomm.garage.maemo.org/#use_sip

Is that what you're talking about or is it something else that I'm missing or needs to be installed?

Username: *FreeDigits Phone Number* (without 1 ex: 5637733700)

Authorization User: *FreeDigits Phone Number* (without 1 ex: 5637733700)

Password: *password*

SIP Proxy: proxy.freedigits.net

Out Bound Proxy: outbound.freedigits.net

The only info you need to set it up in the SIP client.

username = username@proxy.freedigits.net
password = password

click advance

and you will see the outbound proxy field and fill that in.

for authentication you can place the same info username and password.

and thats all...

How can this be installed on the 770?
The installer complains about missing libs:
libgconf 2.6.4.155
lisosso 1.20-1
libossomimeo 1.8.2

if I install OS2007 for the 770, will it work?

thanks,

How much trouble is it worth going to to avoid paying Skype $30 a year for unlimited landline calling?

The combination of gizmo and Grandcentral gives you free inbound calls and a real phone number.. all we need is a sip provider that gives free outbound calls that gizmo can call out on and we got totally free, inbound and outbound calling..

Two reasons:
- my ISP provides me also with FREE phone calls (nearly) all over the world.
- my ISP provides me with a SIP account allowing me to receive and place phone calls where ever I am in the world, as long as I have Internet access.

Just that is nearly enough for me to look for a STANDARD SIP client (and not Skype).

So you can argue that Gizmodo makes the trick. Yes. But, their is another thing I can not stand. Why should I manage X address books? The default one provided in Maemo, the Gizmodo one, then the Pidgin / GAIM one, ...
This is why I'm soooooo pleased to see a solution providing SIP extension to existing default communication tools of the N800.

Guys, a BIG thanks for that
