Why not just be up front about it? why not just say "By clicking this, you'll give me some extra space/bandwidth."

You are not giving a good advice to people, you abuse their curiosity to get referral points for yourself. You even tried to hide your spamming efforts.
This is typical spammer behaviour: abusing people.
I hope the admin deletes this thread and takes care that further spamming is prevented.
