I think it could have been worse if its another phone, mine dropped like 2 meters but screen stayed intact but the upper corner near the headphone jack is dented

Ever since bling became more important to sell phones than sturdiness, this has been the risk people must live with.
Old style phones have a ledge, and much lower risk of having this kind of damage. But they also look ugly.

BTW does it still work ok? Sure sucks; good thing I got a flip cover from Ebay (hey, it's only about 2USD and 2 weeks waiting from China), that reduces the risk of such things happening...

why would anybody suggest that I intentionally dropped it?! Ofcourse it was an accident

its worth noting that it had worst falls n survived! Dunno how this happened.

still works fine though, even the ambient sensor is ok.
will take it for repair soon, crossing fingers for a slim repair bill

The positive side on this that you have at least the ability taking pictures of "cosmetic flaws" just in a right way _and_ upload them being visible to all readers.

Which reminds me... (see attachment)

Anyway, as somebody pointed out, Gorilla Glass isn't invincible.

Apple has never used Gorilla Glass.

One of the biggest complaint about the iPhone was the screen shattering, so Apple implemented (read: licenced) their own glass on the 3G. That's much inferior to Gorilla Glass or Lotus Glass and Apple has still used the same technology on all the models including the iPads'.

They're long overdue for improvement but I doubt even the next revision will bring it, maybe the one after ?
