This rant isn't directed towards you; however different people have different uses and expectations when using these fully featured phones. Forward facing camera - it bothered me that only aMSN used it on my N810 and never really Skype, not to the point where I found it useful. Gizmo Project used it (I think) somewhat, but even that was horrible.
So yeah. I see a forward facing camera and I actually have friends that I'd like to see that are in places I've been and I'd like to see their faces whilst talking or while I'm traveling - hell yes. Why shouldn't I? Because you don't use: MMS, video calling, sharing Twitter pictures, copying and pasting and shortening URL's - then why would you limit me? Because you don't like it?
Fine. I don't like porn. Does that mean you shouldn't be able to view porn on your new, almost water-proof N9 due to the seamless screen to body? Under those that say "I don't use it, it's not important" types, then perhaps I should push my views onto you as much as that types have been trying. Makes no sense. Just because you don't use it, doesn't mean I shouldn't either.
I don't need any more editors than nano. Why do I need pico, vi, or others? Why should I bend over backwards because you mother****ers want 10 different editors that essentially do the same thing? Does terminal make better phone calls? Does it make you more socially adept? Does it do anything for you than add to your D&D cred? Do 20-side dice make you world go round and round?
Not mine.
And until folks stop trying to dictating to other folks what they should and should not do, and start making newer user experiences that everybody gains from and not a few dungeons and dragons or minecraft minions that think that's it cool to have some ugly buttons that break each and every UI convention on that platform because it looks cool... meh. Stop dictating. Start innovating.

Video calling arent exactly big here(except Spore) due to slower internet speed- will cos a lot of lagging. Not to mention the 3G data rates going to go sky high.

When people start saying "yes but do you use it? do you need it? i dont" to any functionality that existed in the past but now has been taken away alarm bells ring for me. I want advancements in what my new gadgets to for more - not less. I can give up somethings like IR ports but when you defend a device/company by saying who needs what any other competitor device has I worry.
I used skype video on my N900 a lot. Year before facetime existed and long before Android caught up. I do think updates will bring video functionality but If it doesnt i wont say "nah, never needed it anyway". Just gotta be honest.

I was just noting that for many users, video skype is a plus, while voice skype is the real need, and if they were short on development time, then I prefer they included only that on release than postpone release for one week (and another week for file upload in browser, and another week for...).
If its in pr1.1, fine for me (but I don't plan to buy the device before so...)

wow!!! i ordered mine from the denmark ebayer too? im in the UK, off work today and hoping it will turn up! glad to see there are actually nos!! when did yours get posted? mine was sent around 6.30 pm on 7th oct, and sending to uk by 1 in the morning!!

For me it was around the same. Posted at around 6 p.m. on Oct 7th and sent to Germany by 3:30 a.m. then.
