Thanks! Works with N9 as well.

You have a typo

2) rename your Hot Spot to "Androidtether"
Should be AndroidTether

for full internet from N900 or any phone in infrastructure mode

(...)there are many apps the one I found WORKING is..
CONNECTIFY-ME
the app is a bliss it easy to configure.. Works on windows7(even on 64bit)

Dude, you're presenting the solution in a confusing way:

You mentioned N900 offering an infrastructure mode, but no way to make this happen is presented in this thread!

You should specify that "connectify-me" is for giving the internet of a Windows PC to other devices as the Touchpad. That's the other way round and N900 is not involved, so also not a solution to th problem in title.

The solution fot title-problem is a bit further down: "Add-Hoc" app by bedrock for tethering to Touchpad, and "ZT-180 Adhoc Switcher" for tethering to Android.

Really, really confusing.

Me, I'm looking for a way to tether N900 to a Linux PC via Mobile Hostspot - no solution so far

I am doing that all the time and it works fine. What's the problem with yours? Perhaps you could start it from the command line so some error output might shed some light on what's wrong.

All in all, for tethering from the N900 to a pc, it should work out of the box.

BUT THEIR IS A SOLUTION TO GIVE "FULL WIFI INTERNET" TO TOUCHPAD OR ANY OTHER WIFI DEVICE[REQUIRES PC]
i didn't ment to Confuse anyone.. but.. i have to write this "because its a HP Touchpad(in WebOS) specific problem..

problem is - even if you provide Internet form N900 to touchpad(WebOS) by "Add-Hoc app by bedrock"... only the web browser will be able to get the internet & no other app is able to detect the internet..
HP Touchpad(in webos) needs WiFi Tethering in Infrastructure mode to fully use WiFi Internet

anyways i have added [REQUIRES PC] in some more places for less Confusion..

Hope.. you find a solution to your Problem..

GODbless you

for those who does not want to install apps for enabling adhoc mode for touchpad and has terminal application installed (wTerm) can use theese scripts:

To start adhoc mode:

Code:
#!/bin/sh
# startadhoc
/sbin/stop PmWiFiService
modprobe ar6000
ifconfig eth0 up
iwconfig eth0 mode ad-hoc essid "name of your network" power off
dhclient eth0
echo "nameserver 8.8.8.8" >> /etc/resolv.conf

To stop adhoc mode:

Code:
#!/bin/sh
# stopadhoc restore default resolv.com
echo "nameserver 127.0.0.1" > /etc/resolv.conf
/sbin/start PmWiFiService
This is not my script, I found it on some webos forum.
This has been said before but I will repete... ONLY BROWSER WILL WORK. No other apps can recognize this connection.

Are we so bored/desperate to revive a 7 year old thread?
