Mai 2008 we met at LinuxTag

I remember him showing this work to Quim for the first time somewhere at the end of the day. He was an instant hero. Look at him demonstrating his work the day after. This is will remain a moment of pure joy.

He was smart enough to follow advice from people and stubborn enough to scratch his own own itch. I have met him at different occasions and always enjoyed working and talking with him.

I miss you.

It's always a bit odd when you realize that someone you have known for years, only through letters/words that appear in a window on your monitor, has touched you and somehow made a difference in your life.

peace be with you, lcuk -

/me goes to use 'lcuk' as a variable somewhere in the API he's working on...

Didn't know him personally but i am sure we chatted briefly over a few posts (i'm still trying to find the posts though). Looking at some of the threads and messages that have been left he seemed a decent guy and was committed to maemo and put some serious time and mileage to support it.

Having had LIQFLOW on my n900 since its first release it fills me with sadness opening it up and using it knowing the person who created it is not with us anymore BUT at the same time we can take great warmth that his thoughts and creation live on in our phones.

Condolences to his family and friends.

This is terribly sad news. I only met him briefly at MeeGo Conf in Dublin when dwaradzyn introduced me to him, I wish I had the chance to have known him better. Gary was still a young man with a young family, I hope he was able to live a full and positive life up til the end. My condolences to Tracy, his family, and friends.

RIP Gary.

I haven't had a chance to interact with Gary personally, but I followed him on twitter, TMO and chatted with him on IRC.

For people who didn't know him for long, take a look at this video.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sjSrw...el_video_title

This is just a fraction of what he was capable of. His ideas were ahead of time and inspirational to others. He was passionate about his work.

Maybe I am not way off when I say people like Gary are the reason most of us are sticking around this community through out these times.

RIP lcuk.

We should keep alive the community only to remember a great programmer and an enthusiastic personality like him.

It 'a shame that Maemo is dying, or could have been possible to dedicate an entire release to his name. :°(

He will be missed very much. Bye Gary!

Funny... One of Gary's notes in a three-year old Liqbase demo video says, "Harmattan."

I don't know if it's appropriate proposition, but maybe CSSU v17.0 could be dedicated for Gary?

Good idea, and highly appropriate IMO.
