Hmmm...my device really feels snappier after this patch and it hasnīt degraded after couple of days usage. Normally my N900 feels responsive after bootup but tends to slow down to point where opening camera app or gallery takes sometimes ~5 seconds to load and everything starts to slow down.

Btw. Karam have you read thread about flushing/refreshing swap or putting it to memory card?

What are the downsides of this patch/script? Even any wild ideas? Should it be integrated to CSSU?

Thanks!

@slender
yes i did i have read about it
and i tried to make my swap up to 2gb (repartitioned my emmc)
but didn't feel any difference (at least with me )
so i just backed to 750 swap

and the downsides
as long as i have tested i didn't see any downsides
you may wanna know that this patch is integrated in the latest linux-kernels (UBUNTU,FEDORA ...etc)

so why not integrate it in CSSU

Any ideas as to hwy I am still getting continuous memory access that is causing my battery not to last so long?

Could it be because I have a 32gb memory card?

might be
try to remove it and test how long will the battery lasts
or enable smart reflex vdd1 and vdd2
also you may want to try to change vfs cache pressure to 10
with swappolube
it is reported by some members that it increase the battery life
although not confirmed
however i don't have any battery issues

Installed scripts this morning, so far results are:

- For the first time I saw my phone freeze (in phone app). I own it since February 2010.

- For the first time since PR 1.2 came I saw dialogue box "application hang, shall i kill it" (launching conversations app)

- Overall it seems laggy and less responsive than before. From time to time different applications hang for 2-3 seconds. My n900 was already fast as hell without messing with cgroups, so I was not expecting performance degradation. Well, by me, there is.

Sorry for negative comments above, but that is my experience

KP46 250-900, swap on micro SD card, IO scheduler tweaks, swappiness 30.

Thanks for the reply Mohammed,

I have done all your suggestions... only thing I cant do is

"enable smart reflex vdd1 and vdd2".

Any time I use leafpad to access the default kernel settings, I get a blank page...
I use qcpufreq and enable the smartreflex there.

My advanced memory always shows 2 bars of memory being accessed.
Earlier versions of the patch did not cause this.

I solved by going to / usr / share / applications /
I found the files defaults.list and defaults.list ~
I deleted the file defaults.list and renamed defaults.list~ to just defaults.list
Before doing this. Make sure you copy both files in MyDocs! just to be safe.

Sorry karam its not problem of your script !!!

I must say that I also experience this patch in this way too. I have flashed my device a couple of days ago, because I thought the problem lay in there. I did first off all install all the other tweaks; swappolube, cssu etc. I first of all played withoud the patch and then with. My device was slower and showed some of the stuff that is described above. And maybe another thing that is worth to mention is that Xorg was using 14% cpu all the time and sometimes even more and something like 10% memory. I don't know what normal values should be. I am glad that so many others did get a faster device by the patch.

Hello everyone

my report :
1-)using transitioncontrol and changing the values from 25 to 10
is not better than the transitions.ini in the speedpatch.tar.gz (IMO)
so i removed it from 1st post

2-)making bash the default shell with .bashrc
is not good either so removed it

3-)changing the vfs cache from 100 to 10 does save a lot of battery
so i've put it in the 1st post

and for people said they had troubles with the patch
hmm this didn't happen with a lot of people
i guess there is something conflicts with cgrouping probably just like
slender said swap tricks

so if you guys followed the instructions from 1st post with it's tweaks
there would be no conflicts

cheers

EDIT: Added part3 in 1st post for battery tricks to get 2x battery
