do you think it may be likely that the PR1.2 will bring 10.1? I am really not liking a smug git at work atm with a HTC Desire... ;-)

The results depend on screen resolution. As usual HTC has cheated with specs one more time, but in reality the Desire is no better than the N97.

Guess what did i get?

One big nothing.
Maybe I pasted it wrong. Here's the link so grab it yourself.

http://bit.ly/pages/tools/sidebar

Scroll down to the part that says: Drag this to your browser toolbar to get started:
bit.ly Sidebar

Tap and hold on bit.ly Sidebar link, choose copy link address, then paste it into the address bar.

Also, you have to already be on some page for it to work.

Here's the screenshot just to show I'm not making this up

I wonder why the bit.ly sidebar doesn't work on Android's browser?
It worked on my iPad's... just tested it.

Exactly. This browser "speed test" video is ludicrous, but it is pitched at the mainstream market audience specifically to create FUD (fear, uncertainty, division).

There is MUCH more to browser performance than a single "how fast does a web page load" example.

The N900 browsers (yes do keep in mind that Firefox runs on the N900 as well) are full featured browsers. Even MicroB with a little smaller feature set compared to FF 1.01 runs all javascript and css3 for example. This is more than even desktop browsers like the Internet Explorer 8 for example.

...talking of Internet Explorer, on the MS IE9 blog they recently showed a performance chart for their javascript engine and it was showing that it is now the fastest browser for rendering javascript...of course they did not mention that the IE9 still uses the same interpreter so it does not RUN a lot of the javascript that all other browsers do.

Ergo, 1) performance tests are almost always with an agenda, 2) bad performance tests like the posted one are just propaganda to unsettle the masses

There is a space in Ivan's link on a few spots. It's not his guilt, because I also tried to put fixed link in this reply, but I got the same result. Forum makes these spaces itself.

When you paste his link, just delete space on these spots:
1. (script' ) - should be (script')
2. setAtt ribute - should be setAttribute

I tested on my N900 and it works.
