If one was to try and crack a wpa network with the n900 what method would they use (apart from reaver)?

Probably aircrack-ng however note that WPA and WPA2 are inherently secure (unlike WEP) so cracking is basically limited to dictionary and/or brute force.
Put it this way - If the password is complex enough the probability of successfully cracking it is close to nonexistent.

bruteforce with aircrack-ng or Reaver are pretty much your only options, I think
