Interesting. If I run it WITH sudo but WITHOUT run-standalone I lose the Fremantle theme and get nasty warnings in the console. Does anyone else have this or did I just hack my N900 beyond redemption (=ready to reflash).

@Attila77
problem is that run-standalone.sh is not in sudoers.

replacing the symlink /usr/bin/tweakflashver
with this script:
Code:
#!/bin/sh
run-standalone.sh /opt/maemo/usr/bin/tweakflashver
and the desktop file like this:
Code:
[Desktop Entry]
Encoding=UTF-8
Version=0.1
Type=Application
Name=Tweak Flash plugin version
Exec=sudo /usr/bin/tweakflashver
Icon=tweakflashver
X-HildonDesk-ShowInToolbar=true
X-Osso-Type=application/x-executable
should make everything work properly as root.

edit: lost a #

I uploaded an update that puts the app in the proper section (utilities) and contains mece's sudo startup trick (many thanks for the tip !) - let me know if this release fixes sudo/startup crash issues for you. Should appear in extras-devel in a couple of minutes.

I wonder if it would be a good idea to rename this app "Fake Flash Version" or similar, so that it is more immediately descriptive to people who don't read more than the app title...?

English is (obviously ) not my native language so I find it a bit difficult to decide... but if there is a consensus that "Fake Flash Version" describes the functionality better, I don't mind changing it.

Adjust, Tweak, Modify, Adapt, Fake, Switch, Falsify... all are good and discribe what is been done. Your choice of name "Tweak" told me what was been done, your app is now known with the name is has. I would leave it as is.

Forgot to add - would appreciate if someone came up with a good icon for it, the current one is a duplicate of FlashLauncher, and that one wasn’t all that descriptive in the first place.

Found this on a google search, not sure on the copyright stuff. Looks cool though.

I just went on the flash website to find what version, and it lists it as LNX 9,0,48,0

I am running Diablo not Chinook.

Hope this helps.
