Last week (or perhaps the week before) Yahoo upgraded Mail Classic adding a bunch of javascript. As a result I now can't send mail (as the Send button won't do anything) and the only way to refresh the mail is to reload the page as the Check Mail button causes the browser to hang.

Mail Beta is still unusable on my N800, and I can't use pop3/imap access as I have a free account

Does anyone else have the same problem?

Why TF they've changed it, I don't know - the whole point of classic is the compatibility with all platforms.

I just sent myself mail with Mail Classic with no problem.

The Check Mail button didn't cause me to hang.

That was with the default browser.

However, with Tear, it didn't appear to work right.

The space where you write the message is only a couple of lines wide, and it wouldn't send just now.

But to repeat, I had no trouble with the default browser.

Check Mail didn't cause the browser to hang, even in Tear.

I reflashed my N800 recently, if that is relevant. I didn't back up or restore any old settings.

I haven't tried the mobile version yet.

edit: The mobile version worked for the default browser but not in Tear also -- got an incompatible message in Tear.

thank you thank you thank you! Mobile Yahoo works well. I dunno why Classic doesn't work on mine, but it used to until they changed it to use javascript for the links and buttons

GMail too ???

Until very recently, I used yahoo as my primary mail acct. Then, I found that yahoo mail stopped working on microB and Tear (before this thread).

So, I decided that I wanted to use the default mail client. However, the default client doesn't work with yahoo.

So, I created a gmail acct, forwarded all my saved mails, updated my address on sites, and sent an address change email to all my contacts.

Yesterday, I went to send an email through the gmail site. I then found out that gmail is also not able to send in either browser (always an error, in New and Classic modes).

[SEINFELD]What's the deal???[/SEINFELD]

Which means? Are there error messages? Or do you have a log?

Vague... Where exactly does it fail? Only sending? Can you log in?
Which hardware, which exact software version is this about?

[This is NOT a problem with the email client. The client simply doesn't support yahoo FREE mail.]
  • mail.yahoo.com, mail.google.com
  • latest tear, latest microb
  • n810
  • i don't know of any logs for improperly functioning websites...
  • both can be logged into, but cannot send mail in either.
and imo, i was not being vague, had you read the thread.

I love this site on my N800. Loads very quickly and is quite customizable.

Repeat: there is no problem with Yahoo Mail Classic that I have been able to reproduce.

Within the last two minutes, I sent and received a message on Yahoo Mail Classic. I wasn't even using the m. one mentioned above. It worked perfectly.

This was on my N800 and with the default browser, not Tear.

I am using the free Yahoo Mail Classic, not the pay version.
